Introducing our new release 2013 Icons
The d’Arenberg Icon wines are the product of a complex array of elements.
Very old and low yielding vines, age old winemaking techniques and rigorous barrel selection, using only the finest parcels of their respective varieties. The wines made from these grapes are powerful and complex, with each contributing barrel personally tasted by Chester. The 2013 vintage release includes The Ironstone Pressings GSM, The Coppermine Road Cabernet Sauvignon, and The Dead Arm Shiraz.
The 2013 vintage was fantastic in McLaren Vale. Great weather conditions leading up combined with low disease pressure produced low yielding crops with quality fruit. In these Icons, there is an abundance of vibrant fruits combined with earthy flavours and pronounced spice. Accompanied by strong and solid acidity, these wines will only get better with age, if you can resist temptation and not open them at dinner.
We’re excited about the 2013 vintage release, with each of the three Icons looking exceptional. Each one boasts the hallmarks of d'Arenberg, a quality wine produced using the labour intensive processes of foot treading and basket pressing each small batch that is received at the winery. It’s a lot of hard work, but the results are definitely worth it.
The d'Arenberg Icons show restraint when young and have a great capacity for cellaring, drinking well for many years to come. They are available online or at cellar door for $65 each, or you can purchase a mixed dozen for $780, which qualifies you for membership to our exclusive wine club full of cenosilicaphobiacs, meaning those who suffer from the fear of an empty glass.
